XPS 1530 heating problem/advice needed
Hello everyone, I bought a XPS 1530 in January 08 and I'm concerned about the heat it generates. By using I8kfanGUI, it shows that when idle, my CPU are about 40C, GPU around 50C and Memory around 55C! I think the memory is way too hot and when playing COD4 after a while, the logs states that my memory's peak temp is at 102C, so I also get some performance issues.
Furthermore, I don't know why but after playing UT3 for 10mins, my laptop automatically shuts off, I'm not sure if its a overheating problem because I can boot up right away, no error messages.
So I would like to have some feedback and some suggestions regarding the type of cooling product (fan, etc) I could buy. Thank you very much

Go into options on I8KFAN and force the fans on either high all the time you are gaming,or set cpu and gpu about 5-10c below what the peak is.You only have 2 fans cpu and gpu so if you are worried about the heat i would contact dell since it is under warranty.

In the options section for link you click to towards the bottom of the page you will see a little check box and next to it,it says enable hardware support.Click to put a check in the box and click yes to the pop up.Once done hardware support is enabled. And when you click on the direct fan control tab, click the enable hardware sensor support box under manual fan control.

Yeah, asd since it's been over a year since it was updated last, we may be S.O.L.

its weird because in i8kfan, it shows that my GPU is at 50C when idle but in GPU-Z or Nvidia monitor, it shows at 70C, how come?
