XPS L502x Network adapter problem
Hello,
I have an issue with my Dell XPS L502x laptop.
Very often when I boot my laptop I have no wired internet connection and a yellow exclamation mark appears on the internet access area at the bottom right. The only way to fix it is to right click on the icon and pick troubleshoot option. This resets the network adapter. I have to do this 2 or 3 times and then the problem is solved. I run Win 7 x64. I tried to update the Realtek driver through windows update but didn't have any results. I also uninstalled and reinstalled the network driver, but no luck. When I boot in Ubuntu (dual boot machine) there is no issue. Also the wireless works fine.

Hi,
Welcome to the community
Did you check your firewall or antivirus settings?
Sounds like there is an issue within WINDOWS OS. Can you try to create another account or new profile in windows. Go to control panel then Users. Create a new User and make sure its an admin account. Then test if same problem occurs in new user.
Also you can try flushing DNS, go to cmd.exe and type in ipconfig /flushdns
Let me know of the results,
Konstadinos

Hi Elijah.
Thank you for the reply. All the previous week I was testing the solutions you proposed, but I had no luck.
I disabled the firewall, but I had the same issue.
I created a new admin account (although the one I normally use is also an admin account), but the problem persisted.
I flushed the dns but did not solve the problem.
When I log in my linux partition the problem disappears. When I return to my win 7 partition the problem appears again...
I think it has to do something with the drivers.
I am running out of ideas :(

Konstadinos,
Can you run an ipconfig /all log and post it back here.

Sure Rick.
This one is when I have no problems with my connection. The active connection is the "Ethernet adapter LAN-verbinding:"

Konstadinos,
I see you have a Dell Wireless 5540 HSPA Mini-Card Network and the Intel(R) WiFi Link 1000 BGN
The Dell Wireless 5540 HSPA Mini-Card Network does not have DGCP enabled. Are you having problems with the mobile broadband card and/or the Intel(R) WiFi Link 1000 BG?
Start, control panel, network and sharing center. Click on change adapter settings. Right click on each setting, left click properties.
Look for TCP/IPv4 and TCP/IPv6 and click on properties for each. Have your settings match mine(please visit this thread for the image)

You can reset the winsock catalog from there.
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\Create a Power Plan
Select High performance.
Start, control panel, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your wireless adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.

Well I have never used mobile broadband but I changed the settings to the ones you showed me. WiFi works fine.
Tomorrow I will try the other solutions you proposed. I 'll post feedback.
