XPS L702X CPU upgrade options

Hi,

My XPS L702X came with an I5-2410M processor at 2.3ghz dual core 35w tdp - now running A19 bios version with the Nvidia GT550m video.

My question is, can I upgrade to the I7-2820qm quad core 2.3ghz 45w tdp - I have checked and the same cooler is used in the preinstalled I7 systems so thats no worry and the frequency matches - is there any problems with this upgrade ?

It should work fine - but if your system has a 90W power supply, you'll also need to buy a 130W unit -- 90W won't cut it for a quad i7.

You will also see your battery runtimes decrease appreciably - and if your system is under warranty, upgrading the CPU will void the warranty, if that's a consideration.

Its past it's warranty and I'm on a 130w psu, fingers crossed !

I'll post again in a couple of days when the new processor arrives and report !

Upgrade went without issue, all working fine and no problems.
