XPS m1710 charger issues

Hi,

I have had my dell xps m1710 a little over a year, i have had a few issues with the poorly designed overheating issues, which i got fixed a few times by the dell enginneers, yesterday the laptop just turned off, no warning messages nothing just a straight black scree, the laptop shows no sign of activity or life at all.

The power supply has a faint bleeping noise once plugged in (to any power outlet), the concern which iam most worried with is the laptop not being able to turn on even though it was fully charged and should start up using the power in the battery.

Guess what iam enquring now is my laptop died for good? do i need a new power supply? and what course do i take to get this fixed knowing my warranty is now invalid

Kind Regards

UPDATE:

To get the laptop to turn back on was to simply take out the battery and put it back in, luckily for me that worked!

First thing to do would be replace the adapter.

If the new adapter does nothing, try without the battery.  If that fails to produce any results, replace the mainboard.
