In summery, install the following asmedia driver

http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/Socket2011-R3/Z10PE-D8_WS/Drivers/chipset/ASMedia_ASM1042AE_1142_V116291.zip

Once I did that and kept a fan blowing on the dock, I have not had a single issue.

check the serial of your dock. starts with CN, ends with A00

thats what I got told when to identify my dock(s) as (Express)ServiceTag is invalid

A01 could be the new Dock-release

So what is the issue you have with the Dock?

June 6th, 2016 10:00

Hi

Sorry been working!

I just checked and don't have the wireless hardware enabled so I don't think it will work for me - I have the Ethernet as my primary connection and usually only use the WLAN when I am  mobile (or if the Dock decides to lose my Ethernet port)

What word is that I have not seen any word from Dell about replacement. It would be nice if they could send a formal notice to all existing users with their intent instead of just being silent on this.

I have had both a TB15 and now a WD15 and both have issues.
The TB 15 went back.

Here is the root cause, in my opinion.
USB-C / TBolt issues on the Dell machine(s) themselves.
In my case, a 9350.

I've tried using a Dell USB-C to USB 3 dongle and it is unstable - (IE: WD Passport 3.0 drives connected to it will disconnect/reconnect.).

I've tried a USB-C hub - (ordered from Dell - 4-port C2G USB 3.0 USB-C to 4-Port USB-A Hub - Hub - 4 x SuperSpeed USB 3.0 - desktop) - same thing, disconnect/reconnect randomly, sometimes incessantly.

I've tried a USB-C to RJ45 dongle and it seemed to be unstable - long term.
(It wasn't as unreliable as the above, but did bounce eventually, so still a thumbs down).

The only thing that is stable on that port is a display. Using a Dell USB-C to HDMI adapter, anything I connect (monitor(s), LCD, etc) is completely OK.

RoundRock (wherever nowadays), has an acknowledged port problem.

I actually do have an open case with them and weekly "we are working on it" e-mails.

They also have called me and (at least verbally) acknowledged the problem.
Like in, we don't need to replace your 9350. We will have an update soon that will fix the USB-C issue.

Now, is it gonna be weeks, months, or....?

I adjusted the wifi power as you described.  Now my internet does not switch back and forth between wifi and Ethernet.  Before I had to turn Wifi off to get Ethernet to consistently work.  It seem that now, at 75% wifi strength, I can leave wifi on with Ethernet plugged in and I don't have conflicts anymore.  Interesting discovery.  Stable system . . . for now.

I have had constant usb disconnects with the TB15 even with all the driver updates.  The disconnects seem to be random.  It will sometimes last all day, other times the disconnects happen within seconds.

For those that missed it:

Here is the solution for constant disconnect, Video blanking, and few other problems using Dock Station:

Go to the properties of the WIFI, "Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections", Right click on the WI-FI adapter, Properties,  Configure,  advanced, Power output. Change it from 100% to 75%. If you wish to use external monitor attached to the docking station, you may have to change it to 50%. The only problem now with the 50% is that the WIFI may no longer switch off automatically. Closing the lid also affects this, so you may have to play with this setting.

May sound like a strange solution but it worked for few people.

Been using two TB15 with 3 monitors on my 7710 each (two different locations).  Around a month ago, one of the monitors kept going out on one TB15.  They sent me a replacement.

Earlier this week, on the other TB15 one of the monitors are going out.  Chatted with support and they said they are not allowed to ship any replacements and either I can wait until the issue is resolved or they will issue a refund.  He had no ETA on replacements and said it can be months.

Changing the power output on my wireless adapter to 75% now allows me to use the ethernet port on the dock.  Previously using the ethernet on the dock would cause the entire dock to crash (monitors, USB, everything).  The downside is that now I seem to be having trouble staying connected to WIFI.  I am still having USB disconnects.  Additionally, I am unable to drive two 4K displays still.  I have to plug one into the dock, and the other directly into the HDMI port on the XPS 9550.  I've been having that issue since installing some of the last updates for the dock.  Previously I was able to drive both monitors, although they were unstable...

In summary, I'm waiting for the day when Dell has a replacement dock, so I can get them to send it to me.

I am done with this Broadcom WIFI, got a Intel 8260 for $26.00, dropped it in (10 minutes job), booted up - no more problems and running at maximum speed. The TD is happy too.

My TB15 has been running solid for me for 3 weeks now. All I did was remove the cover. I can put the cover on and after 2 minutes my displays go out.

This is 100% a heat issue.

Heat may be a factor, sure.
But, please see my previous USB-C related post

Bottom line: When I can't get usable stability on anything other than a display connected via USB-C dongle to my USB-C/Thunderbolt port (especially any USB-3 device,) I strongly suspect Dell has a bigger problem here than heat issues on their docking device.

And, Dell has acknowledged that there is a port problem on (at least on my 9350).

I'm convinced the problems with the USB-C port(s) are directly related to the docking device(s) problems.

For third part USB-C devices to play nice you need to disable Thunderbolt security in the bios.  I have numerous USB-C adapters and they all work 100%.  The only device I have had issues with is the TB15 which has been working fine since I did a clean install of Windows 10, followed the directions in the OP, installed the Asus Asmedia driver I have posted, and put a fan blowing on the dock.  I believe it is a heat issue AND a driver issue.
