i6000 SD Card Reader Not Working

My SD Card reader is messes up on my i6000.  Not sure if it ever worked since I am only now wanting to use it.  I searched and found old forum posts but tried the suggestions and still nothing.  When I put a SD card in I get a "bong bong" suggesting it "sees" it; same when I remove the card.  Also under "devices" there are no issues noted (eg: no yellow exclamation mark, etc).  Tried to reload drivers and everything else I can think of. Nothing.

Desperate for assistance !!
