inspiron 1525 cpu upgrade
hello
i have a dell inspiron 1525 with the following stats
Dual CPU T2390 @ 1.86 ghz
782 Mhz
99 GB ram ( to be upgraded to 4 GB soon)
what is the higest speed cpu that i can upgrade to ?
what will the Ram capacity be for said upgrade?

You can use any Core 2 Duo EXCEPT the new MOntevinas (1066 MHz bus). The 800 MHz bus CPUs top out at the T9500 - 2.6 GHz. You will find these CPUs for sale at about $500 each - probably almost as much as the entire system cost.
You'll see abotu 3.25 Gbytes of 4G of RAM with a 32-bit OS.
Upping the CPU speed will likely reveal a (non-upgradeable) limitation of this system - the weak onboard video subsystem.

so when i upgrade the cpu to say the 9300 it would only be 2 ghz instead of 2.5?'
ive been looking at newegg.com and found the t9300 for $329
is the montevina the name brand?...
the video subsystem is not that big of a deal...99% of the use is home recording...
