Thanks for the info Prateek.

It turns out that 3520 model has several sub models. The one I have is with i5 3210M processor and having 4GB RAM . Just wants to know what is the max memory that I can upgrade it to?? Can I find it from the machine itself??

i5 yes - i7, likely not.

Stick to a CPU with the same TDP (power requirement).  You also need to stick to the third-generation (Ivy Bridge) CPUs - the earlier Sandy Bridge and later Haswell CPUs won't work.  The i5-3210m is a CPU that should work.

YES!!! it actually is.  It is possible to upgrade your possessor if the new processor uses the same socket as your current processor.   Right click on "This PC" and hit properties and you will see the full name of your processor.  Look up the full name of your pentium processor online to find its socket processor.  Then find a  i7 or i5 processor that fits this processor.  Intels website has lists for this.  replacing the processor can be done by yourself with the right tools or you can take the new processorr in its package with your laptop to a pc repair store and they can do it.  hope it help
