inspiron 8600 Display

HELP!!! Please!!! Have been experiencing a "Active Desktop Recovery" message when I boot up computer. Could get it back to normal by going through display and desktop background. Now computer will turn on and still has same "active desktop recovery" message but also is veeeeerrry light, as in, I can only see it if I i tilt the display a certain way. Too light to see my mouse. I have tried the "Fn"key with the arrows to brighten and nothing seems to work. ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED! Thanks
