is an 1150 that bad?

Needless to say I'm somwhat disappointed with the purchase of my Inspiron 1150 a few months ago. I'm not sure if they are all this bad or if I got a lemon! It runs so VERY slow and seems to freeze up too much for a computer that is like 4 months. I would've thought with a 2.8GHZ P4 things would've ran much faster but its very slow. I have even upgraded from 256mb to 512mb of RAM in hopes of speeding up things but its still god awful slow thats for sure. The hard drive seems to lag alot and I was thinking of upgrading to a higher speed drive. I think I have 4200rpm right now. Would going upto say maybe a 7200rpm help very much? Any help, insight or comments regarding this or the 1150 in general are most welcome. If things don't improve I was thinking of bumping up to a 600m which probably has a much better battery then barely 2 1/2 hours my 1150 gives me.

i have an 1150 and its fine, do you have it set to always on in power options? My hard drive is a 5400rpm so I would think yours would be, other than that you could try formatting it.

I could say mine is bad in the sense that it is so slow, and the video card can not accommodate a number of pc games. To add to that, my screen failed, and the laptop can nolonger switch on. The system is only 3 1/2 months old. So maybe it is bad.

My 1100 is quite fine, except for as the other poster said, I cannot play a lot of first person shooter games.

It's a good computer for a cheap price, at least when I bought it it was.  The 6000 is a better system (especially 6000d).

I too have the same problem.  I found this on their website... take a look and see if solves your problem.  Articles i have found on the web say sp2 can slow your computer down by 90%
