latitude d830 hard drive swap

:emotion-2:Hi everyone-quick question,my d820 died but the hard drive is fine i ordered a used d830 and will use the old hard drive in it....my question is ,am i going to have to reformat and load windows all over or will i be lucky and just have to update drives...any one have some exspireance with this....thanks rich.

You should be able to transfer the disc without problems.  The only thing is that if the video chip is different between the two, you'll want to boot in safe mode, remove the video driver, and load the correct one before booting into WIndows normal operating mode.

Yes the video is different,great advise on the safe mode,ill do that when it arrives.than will try windows update...thanks for the advice.

Hopefully it means you're trading the nVIdia for Intel video -- the nVidia chip in these is dreadfully unreliable.
