Hi DIPR123,

If you have the drivers installed, then you could use Windows Hello feature to use the fingerprint setup.

thank you for the general reply.   i have reinstalled 10, and this is ALL i have showing now:

device manager shows dell controlvault with fingerprint ..... driver is working properly

and also in device manager, system devices shows a Broadcom TPM driver

i do not see any option in "account" to set up fingerprint or for "Hello".

which exact drivers do i need for my E6500 with a fingerprint scanner?   where are they?   how do i install them?

thanks.

some update:

after finding 'dell biometric framework' download, and installing it, i now see the "hello" and "fingerprint" options in settings/accounts/sign-in

it did read my finger and said "you are all set now".    BUT .............   now at the login screen, there is NO option showing for the fingerprint login.   all that shows is the same old 'password or pin'.

Hi DIPR123,

Thank you for the update.

If you have already setup the fingerprint read, select the windows hello in pc settings -> accounts -> sign in options and restart the system and it should work fine.

If it does not work, then kindly write me a private message and attach the screen shots of the sign in screen.

Keep us updated.

Care to provide a link for the download? I'm trying to do the same, but a couple of downloads I've tried won't work.

Hi Rishi,

I have Latitude 64-bit E6530. It shipped with Windows 8. Fingerprint reader worked fine until I upgraded to Windows 10 last week.

When signing in, says "initializing fingerprint scanner...". Later, it says "failure" where the fingerprint scanner message was before.

Can you please help me by providing details instructions?

Thanks in advance!

Hi CRAWLINS,

Update the BIOS from - http://dell.to/1OnYHY9

Also, from the same site above, reinstall the Dell Data Protection Security tools, ControlVault firmware and driver - restart the system and check again if it works.

Create a  local admin account and check - http://bit.ly/1JoFhcw

If it does not work, then kindly post a screenshot of the error and also attach the event logs - http://bit.ly/1qGAWjJ - for us to review.

Write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.

Keep us updated.
