lsass.exe on E1705

I get through the initial Windows XP startup screen and then failure with a small window that says "lsas.exe enpoint format is invalid". I have been able to restore the original factory settings but can't get the computer to work for more than a day after.

A Dell technician thought it was a virus but Norton and Mcafee don;t pick it up.

The Dell technician is probably right. There is the sasser worm, which has no other symptoms besides shutting down your machine. I'd suggest you try another anti-virus program. Try scanning your HD using an antiviral boot CD.
