Hi Tom91,

Are you trying to say that the light on the AC Adapter goes off after you plug it in to the computer?

I would suggest you to drain the residual power from the laptop:

  • Disconnect any external peripherals (flash drives, printers, external hard drives) from the computer
  • Then remove the adapter and the battery
  • Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds
  • Reconnect the battery and the adapter
  • Try to restart the computer and check

Hi Tom91,

Does the system power without the AC Adapter plugged in?
Does the system power on even for a very short duration with the AC Adapter plugged in?

I would suggest you to re-seat brick and cable. Please check if the light on the AC Adapter remains on or goes off after it is connected to the computer.

It doesnt power on at all.

When I plug the ac adaptor in the blue ring goes out.

Whats re-seat brick and cable?

I probably sound daft for asking haha.

Tried what you said and laptop still isnt doing anything when I plug the ac adaptor in it makes an arching sound and trips the ac adaptor until I unplug it from laptop then works fine again so im guessing that theres something wrong inside the laptop itself.

Rough estimate would be the equivalent of US $500 - the board alone is about $400, plus labor.

Hi Tom91,

The pricing varies from region to region. You may contact our Out of warranty Dept on 1-800-288-4410 (applicable for USA). Let me know if you are in a different country.

If the LED on the AC adapter goes out when you plug in the notebook end, you either have a bad power jack or a bad mainboard.

On this model the power jack is part of the system board.

Hi Tom91,

As ejn63 rightly suggested, it is an issue with the motherboard or the DC-in port and would require replacement. Let me know if your system is in warranty.
