new inspiron 5000 : driver power state failure

Driver power state failure error message is caused due to video driver .

If you feel the support assist is causing the crash, please try uninstalling the software to check if that helps.

Also please remove the AMD catalyst software from control panel , then reinstall the latest version from the vendor's website.

Thx for the reply.  Would expect though from a machine straight from the box,  drivers & settings should be properly installed,and that same is checked upon shipping.

In the meantime can only say that there have been daily updates , including GEForce drivers. Uninstalling software has actually not been possible,  since same error produces itself after a couple of minutes or whilst trying to uninstall. 

Would also now know how to remove catalyst software straight from the control panel.  Assume you mean removing from programs ?

Sorry for the delay in response.

The PC's that are shipped from the factories go out with the updated drivers, however the updates for the OS and the hardware components are pushed regularly.

Yes you need to remove the catalyst software from the programs list.. Once that's done, Please reboot the PC and open www.ati.com

Click "Drivers + support"  , then "Drivers+ Download center"

Click on "Download now" in the auto detect option, Run it, the software picks up the latest driver for the graphics card.

Install it and restart the laptop. That should fix the issue. Let us know if you are able to do it, if not, we shall guide you through other steps.
