old inspiron mini 10v

Hi,

I have an old Inspiron Mini 10v that I am trying to get working. I don't have a battery for it, just a Rocketfish universal power adapter (with a connector that it lists as compatible with the 10v). I have tried plugging it in with the adapter but am not seeing any indicators light up on the notebook. The adapter does have power though.

Is it possible that this needs to have a battery connected in order to power up even using the AC adapter? Any suggestions would be appreciated -- thanks.

No, the battery isn't required for power-up.  If the system won't power up, try another (preferably Dell) adapter - failing that, the mainboard is likely toast.

I was afraid of that... okay, thanks.
