"no battery detected"

What is up with me and breaking things?

i was using my laptop in my room and i was turning it on after it had charged and then the song i had been listening to earlier had played right from were it had left off before it shut off. then the laptop fell from my bed and onto the floor and it suddenly shut off.

i guess you can say that me putting the laptop on my bed was irresponsible of me, but thats beside the point.

anyways, i plugged in my laptop again and to my suprise, it turned on. but there was one little thing i noticed on the battery icon. i put my mouse over it and it said "no battery detected".

could this mean that i irreparably damaged my laptop?

if so how do i fix it?

also, do i have to send screenshots and if so how do i post them?

Please list Dell model number and version of windows. Dell Inspiron 3543, windows 10

In the meantime, right click  battery icon, hopefully you'll see a battery meter. In the battery meter, check the battery health or status of it. I also suggest you run diagnostic to check the hardware on the system by following the steps below:

1. Power off the system. Remove all peripherals except AC adapter

2. Power on system, quickly start tapping the F12 continuously until you see Preparing one time boot menu in the top right corner of the screen. In the boot menu, stroll down to Diagnostic and then click on it.  After quick tests, click on Primary Battery, and select Thorough Test Mode. Run Hard drive as well.

Lastly, if the system has the easy to remove battery, I suggest reseating the battery by following steps below:

1. Power off system. Remove all peripherals, AC adapter, battery and then press the "Power On" button for 15 seconds to release Static Flea Power.

2. Replace battery, adapter, and then power on system. Hopefully battery is fix now.

The easy to remove battery will look something similar to the image below:
