Depends on the site and type of video - there is no general answer. Some can be recorded, while others cannot. Check with the individual site/publisher.

I'm using the realplayer to download videos, and gernerally it works well.

You download the player at real.com and install it. You may have to restart your pc. When you have a video playing on your screen a button will pop up that says "download now".
Note: it has happened repeatedly that the download button stopped showing up. The remedy to that was closing the browse rwindow, starting the realplayer and then re-opening the browser window.
