How to upgrade XPS M1530 video card?
How do I purchase an upgrade (and have it installed) for my XPS M1530.
I have the nVidia 8400 (128MB) and I would like to get the 8600 (256MB) (or is there something even faster?).
Does Dell have a special upgrade center that I can bring it in and have it upgraded? I don't want to mail it in to get it upgraded.
Thanks.

if i am correct, the video card is not replaceable. just the RAM and processor. but then again, i did say "If I am correct..."
You are either stuck with it, or you might have to sale your current computer and purchase a new one with the video card you want.
By the way, get the right processor too. upgrading from a 2.0 GHz to a 2.6 GHz is $1200.00

Yes the GPU is soldered to the MOBO on this model.

I'm also curious about this. My laptop has the 8600 and I'd like to upgrade it to 512MB or even 1GB.
I'm hoping to email Dell this evening but may contact a technician I know.
Would be nice to have an answer to this question, though. Searching online yields several results but none definitive.

The video chip and video RAM are permanently part of the mainboard. You cannot upgrade.
