INSPIRON 15 3520 HARD DRIVE NOISE
I Purchased the aforementioned laptop a couple of weeks ago and there is now a constant 'chugging' type rasping noise like the HHD is slowly ticking over. In between this it speeds up and then slows back down again to the rasping sound. The speeding up is quite frequent, the rasping chug constant.
I've looked on other posts and noticed one which refers to fan speed. Although it doesn't sound like a fan could this be the problem?
Any advice/solution appreciated as its become a pain to use the laptop!

Hi Alan04,
This can be an issue with the fan/hard drive.
To isolate the issue, run diagnostics on the computer. (Restart the computer by holding down the FN + Power button simultaneously). Let the diagnostics complete.

Hi,
I just got my dell inspiron 15.6" 7547 2 days ago. I found that there is a low scratching sound intermittently from the HDD (Sure it's not the fan). Is this a known issue ? any fixes?
