Inspiron Mini 1012 White Display
I have a Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 - When I switch it on the display is just white, nothing else ever comes up on it - When I plug a display into the VGA port I can get picture on the external screen but the laptop display still stays white. I have tried updating video drivers and running hardware diagnostics but no luck. What could this be??

Most likely it's a faulty screen -- replace that with a new one.
