Dell Inspiron 3531 cannot update from Windows 10 1909 upwards

Hello,

I have a Dell Inspiron 3531 (2014) with a Intel Celeron-N2830 processor.

I used it as a back-up computer, occasionally switched on to get the latest updates. It is now on Windows 10 build 1909. The system tells me I have to update it now, but whatever I try (even a complete re-install with the Windows Media Creation tool) everytime it rolls back the update.

I checked the status of all the drivers with Dell, all seems up to date. The only thing is that the BIOS is not the latest version, but because the battery is dead I cannot update it.

I looked in the Dell database to see whether the 3531 is is suited for the latest verson of Windows 10, but is is not in the list, only for the versions from 2014 and 2015.

For a back-up computer I do not need a working battery.

Anyone any suggestion what could get me through the deadlock ?
