How do you disable trackpad tapping (tap to click) ???

For a laptop with trackpad buttons (precision 3510) it seems weird not not be able to disable tapping. But that appears to be what Dell did with their proprietary trackpad control drivers/app. You can disable but the buttons, but not tapping (!?).   THis means random clicks, drags, selects that really get in the way.

I've googled quite a bit on this, but the results seem to be that either Dell supports that for the model, or they don't. If Dell had allowed the Synaptics drivers this would have been possible, but they went with proprietary stuff which is much more limited.

Any suggestions?

I figured this out, after several hours of struggling.

You need to find the *earlier* version of the Dell Touchpad control app  (DellTPad.exe), which may be included in the driver set that's downloadable from Dell.   You need to find the .exe and run it (search in C:\Dell...), because it's not accessible from any menu in windows.

There's also a registry setting for the driver ("tapping"), but changing that from 1 to 0 had no effect.
