Latitude 5280 Hinges Failing
Does anyone have issues with the 5280 hinges coming apart.
Hinge comes loose.
Hinge Cover breaks off due to excessive movement.
Hinge may come apart through the press fit join that attaches to 2 halves together.
The bracket that the hinge screws to on the Lid starts to come away, this pressure separates the LCD from the Lid.

Update = After completing troubleshooting, a DELL-Cares agent setup a part replacement.

Is anyone else having this issue ? we are Still getting failures - and DELL have finally agreed to repair this type of failure under warranty. There appears to be hinge re-design photo of old and new attached - the old one is a pressed fit - the new design is fixed together with screws.

Hi,
if the Laptop is in good condition other than the failed hinge - and if it is still under warranty - Dell might repair it for free - as it eventually became a documented issue.

Hello,
I have purchased around 80 laptops 5280 and half of them got this similar issue. I do not feel alone. Only solution possible is to call Dell Technical Support and to be fixed under warranty.

I am also facing the same issue. One of hinges completely broken, but model out of warranty
