SSD / HDD Support for Latitude E7450

Dear Team,

My E7450 has a 256 SSD installed.

1) What's the maximum SSD supported? How many SSD slots are available? If I upgrade to 512, do I have to remove the current 256 ?

2) Does E7450 support traditional hard disk (2.5" hdd) ?

Many thanks in advance.

Ameen.

Second question first. You can install an HDD or a 2.5" SSD up to 2 TB per Crucial.

However read the following post first as there were changes made. It sounds like you have a 256 GB mSATA drive. If you want to install and SSD or HDD you would remove the mSATA frame first.

There is already answer to this question. I can just add that I installed Samsung EVO 850. I removed the mSATA bracket and installed normal size SSD. Securing the disk is another issue, but some duct tape will help. I also installed 2nd drive in WWAN slot. I used KingSpec M.2 NVME 2242 256GB drive and it works perfectly (it is also very fast). There are 2 caveats: - M.2 drive must be 42 mm (2242 standard) and NVME disk (some m.2 disks use SATA standard - these are not compatible) - system can't boot from NVME disk, so it can only be used as 2nd disk. So, there is possibility to install 2 disks (1 normal size SSD or HDD in SATA slot) and 1 M.2 NVME 42mm in WWAN slot (only as a 2nd disk as it is not bootable).

Hi zbabac,

I bought the KingSpec M.2 NVME(PCIe) P300 Series and this SSD card doesn't work in my E7450(discrete graphics). Is there any procedure to recognizing the SSD in the WWAN slot?
