Solution for BCM20702A0 Bluetooth driver on Dell Latitude E6530 running Windows 10 64-bit

Hi,

As an experienced  Dell Latitude (self-taught) technician, I had a hard time installing the Broadcom BCM20702A0 driver on a Dell Latitude E6530 laptop running Windows 10 64-bit.

Here's a solution that works, hoping that it can help others in the same situation.
First thing to know is that the Bluetooth module name is BCM2070, 2A0 being probably the firmware.

1) Download "Broadcom BCM2070, v.6.3.0.6060, A01" driver package R280283.exe from this Dell's website:
https://www.dell.com/support/home/de-ch/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=fmjk1
2) Don't install the .exe, as it won't work on Windows 10.
Instead, extract it with an archive decompressor (I used 7-zip) to a folder (e.g. "R280283").
3) From Windows Device Manager, right-click the BCM20702A0's unknown device entry, and choose "Update driver"
4) Click on "Browse my desktop to find drivers"
5) Click on the bottom list "Choose from a list of drivers available on my computer.
6) In the hardware types list, click on "Bluetooth", then click on the "Next" button.
7) In the manufacturers list, click on "Broadcom".
Click on "Disk provided ..."
9) Navigate to the Win64 subfolder of the folder where you extracted the files from the ".exe"  (e.g. "D:\R280283\Win64"), and click on "Open".
10) In the list of models for Broadcom devices, click on "Broadcom BCM2070 Bluetooth Device", and click "Next".
Done !

---------- Here were my previous unsuccessful attempts ------------

  • Using the official "Dell Wireless 380/1550/1560 Bluetooth Driver" didn't work.
  • Installing a cabinet file (.cab) for the Bluetooth BCM2070 from the comand line as administrator returned a file not found error.

Dism /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\.cab

I tried unsucessfully with both first and latest ".cab" files from the Windows Update catalog: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=Broadcom+bluetooth+BCM20702+Windows+10

You sir, are a gentleman, and a live saviour. I made this account specifically to thank you.

Only difference is that the link you provided donwloaded an exe not an archive, but while running a normal install, you unpackage the files in c:\dell\drivers. Then i could find the 64 folder and everything worked out.

Thank you again and have a great day!

PS: I wish you were a Lenovo specialist also because I have an thinkpad with the same problem, hahaha.

I made an account just to say thank you.

This user experience was terrible, but now I can actually use my Bluetooth USB device. I won't be purchasing anything without native Bluetooth ever again. Absolutely ridiculous hoops to jump through.

I got it all installed and downloaded,

It gives me the option to connect devices now, anx turn Bluetooth on and off, however when selecting a device it loads for 2 mins then said to try to connect the device again.

I have tried paring multiple things now

No luck. Any suggestions?
