Hi JOcean, thank you for your advice. I think I might have a faulty keyboard in that case. When I use my wireless keyboard my mute function works. I have a vague memory that the button on the keyboard used to work when I had Windows 7 on it and been like this since the Windows 8 and 10 upgrades, but it might just be coincidence. I have also installed and factory reset the laptop multiple times so not sure what is happening. I will try to get hold of a replacement keyboard and see if it does the trick. Thank you for the advice

Thank you for your response. I have tried both but neither of those have made a difference..

Try holding down the Fn key and Esc at the same time then release and see if the functions return to normal. Also try holding down the Fn key for 3 seconds then try again.

Try the following. Also try an external keyboard to see if the problem persists. If not then it may be a bad keyboard on the laptop.

Thank you. I had same issue, and Fn key + ESC reset everything back to normal.
