How to perform a BIOS upgrade on M3800 Ubuntu Linux (vanilla: not sputnik)

Hi,

I think I tried all I could find on the net but no way to upgrade the BIOS to A10 so far.

freedos fails with "This program cannot be run in DOS mode".

How can I update the BIOS?

No window options please: I don't have any windows machines.

From my memory, I cannot currently find the url where I found this, so please check carefully:

BACK UP BACK UP BACK UP !!!

BACK UP BACK UP BACK UP !!!

sudo cp 9343_BIOS_Rev_A05.exe /boot/efi/
Boot in your computer BIOS (hit F12 when Dell's logo is displayed) then select Bios Flash Update and the update will be installed.

I was surprised that the uefi could run exe files, but apparently it can.

The A07 was surprisingly painless for me.

Thanks for your answer, unfortunately I've not any /boot/efi folder.

The first thing I did when I got the machine was to replace the HDD with my 512 GB Samsung PRO SSD, coming from my previous laptop and I was up and running in no time (it's Linux: move the HDD to another laptop and it will probably just run fine)..

I think that the only option I have is upgrading the bios from an usb stick.

Sadly, the good old simple and standard method of using free dos to run the bios flasher is not working anymore.
