When can we expect the Sputnik version of the new XPS 13?

Hi Decca,
thanks for the praise. I promise Linux is not an afterthought :) Unfortunately a few things cropped up last minute which we have been wrestling with. Keep the faith :)
thanks!

I apologize if I missed the answer, but will there be any hardware differences between the Windows version and the Sputnik?

It is great to provide the Ubuntu option to customers. I really appreciate that.
Good luck for the last fixes and best regards from France.

Hello Barton I just purchased a Dell XPS 13ULT-7144sLV 13.3-Inch Touchscreen Laptop off Amazon. What ISO do you suggest as my operating system? I will not be dual booting. Please provide link if possible. Thank you for your help

I'm also interested if will be any hardware differences between windows and ubuntu versions. I would buy the windows version now and dual-boot with ubuntu after your release.

I need to know this too, as I can't hold off purchasing a new laptop any longer. I'd like to get the Dell XPS 13 but need to know if I can put Linux on it in a straightforward manner once you guys have sorted through all the issues. Will the hardware change? Please let us know as soon as possible.

Hi,
I would like to support linux by buying a xps 13 d.e.
However in order to do that I have to be sure that it comes with a matte display option.
If you could tell us this as soon ad possibile I could wait for it otherwise i am forced to purchase the win edition as there is currently a promotion on it.
Thank you

The 1920x1080 FHD non-touch display is matte. The 3200x1800 QHD+ touch display option is glossy.

I got the Windoze version of XPS 13 9343 and promptly wiped Win8 and installed Ubuntu 15.04.
The A03 Bios update went one step further to smoothing things out. I haven't applied any special patches (yet) The Touchpad is still a bit jumpy and the mike is now recognized at least, but still not working. We are getting closer though.
An idea, why not set up a vote to see how many (like me) got the Windoze version but are running LInux. Perhaps that would carry some weight towards convincing Dell to invest more in Open Source. I bet we are many!
Cheers, Paul

I hope we can order the Full HD version with 512GB SSD in the future. Now you have to go QHD to get more storage.
Kudos to Dell for making a linux machine that's available worldwide for a change!

Just ordered the xps 13 9343, matte fhd, i5, 8gb, 256Gb SSD, with ubuntu preloaded. approx 66eur cheaper than the equivalent windows version.
The link was not straightforward to find:
