Precision 5510 microphone with 16.04

I just upgraded to 16.04 and outside of having to disable secure boot everything is working great except for the microphone. 16.04 doesn't even think I have a microphone. Has anybody found a way to get the microphone working in 16.04?

I guess I spoke too soon about only the microphone not working. Looks like USB-C isn't working either :( I thought by doing an upgrade instead of a fresh install everything would just work.

I have the 2014 XPS 13 DE (model 9333).  It originally came with Ubuntu 12.04.  I have upgraded it from 12.04 -> 14.04 -> 15.04 -> 15.10.  The built-in upgrade only worked correctly 1 time, and crashed big-time the other times, leaving a useless, non-booting system.  My emergency restore image didn't work, either. I had to do a clean install from scratch, wiping the disk completely to get it working again.

Since you REALLY, REALLY need to backup EVERYTHING before an upgrade anyway, you may just as well do a clean install, then restore user data from the backup.  I really think this is a far more productive & predictable way to operate.

Cheers!

Alan

That's what I ended up doing and my microphone is back. Though, sadly, still now USB-C.
