I am experiencing a similar/same problem on my Precision 7550 with Ubuntu 20.04. I have already updated the BIOS to 1.4.0.
When I run [xinput test 13 | grep "button press"] (ID 13 is the touchpad physical buttons) I only get the middle button as showing a 2 when pressed. The left and right touch pad buttons do not give any feedback during this test.
When I'm using the touchpad left button, I can click and hold it down and it allows me to highlight text. On the right button, when I click it after the keyboard backlighting is off, the keyboard backlighting comes back on. So I know that these buttons are at least partially active and there is no hardware problem.
Hi, I am also facing the same problem. I am using Ubuntu 18.04 on Alienware laptop. I am right now using a mouse to get the right click option. The right click option on touchpad works fine on Windows OS, but somehow while on linux there is always a problem.
This works now without doing anything special, I guess some firmware or kernel-update did it. I'm using Kubuntu-20.10 with all updates, nothing special

So I booted up Windows 10 and the right button is working just fine, I guess this just confirms the issue is linux driver related.

I'm having the same issue with my new Precision 7750, any ideas if there exists an updated driver or some other ways to fix this issue?
Thanks.

This has worked for me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w39mvMeAxDw
Required restart, though (unlike in the video).
