Various issues

Part of this is a driver problem.  This new hardware has drivers in the 3.19 kernel which isn't yet available for 14.04.  This is especially true for your trackpad issues.  You can, however, install the 3.19 kernel using the Beta Kernel Enablement repositories. The next thing I would try doing is just that.  I have a write up/thread about it here:

On the 3.19 kernel I do not have WiFi issues, suspend issues, or trackpad issues.  I don't use suspend that much, so it's possible that the suspend issue is still a problem and I just haven't hit it yet.

I first tried to use the fix from http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN297219/en.
But that ended up in the right mouse button not working anymore.

I will give 3.19 kernel a try asap.

Do you also experience Wifi problems with channel 12 and 13?
It is probably related to this issue bugs.debian.org/.../bugreport.cgi

I am based in the US so I don't really use channel 12 and 13, however, it would appear that the Broadcom drivers I am using do support channels 12 and 13:

Again, I have never used the channels specifically (at least as far as I am aware), but my drivers are reporting them for support.

Thanks @DantesRequiem. After I updated to the 3.19 kernel the trackpad problems were gone. However I had to disable "Tap to click" as it triggers while I use the keyboard ("Disable while typing" setting doesn't solve it).

@DELL-Justin C. Very good you guys are working on it. But it would be a good thing if you somehow list the known issues on that page for new users.

The Wifi problem I can't reproduce now as I am not near the channel 12 router the couple of days.
@DantesRequiem, I can list all those channels as well, but when the AP's on channel 12 do not show up when I run "sudo iwlist wlan0 scanning"
But as mentioned earlier, I think it is a driver problem but hope it gets solved soon.

@yoshz, I've got the same Channel 12/13 issue. I've mentioned this in the following unsuitably named thread: http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/os-applications/f/4613/t/19633153. Still no fix.

@DELL-Justin C, I am suffering the same Channel 12/13 and resume from suspend issues. Since you're trying to get Dell Ubuntu experts in touch with people would you do the same for me? I was told someone from ProSupport would be in touch about my support case raised (911303407) but that's sitting with no response. Also, when is the knowledge base going to materialise? It looks like people have gone off on completely different directions (kernel upgrade in situ, upgrade to 15.04, backporting patches into kernel, replacing broadcom drivers, etc.) so I think it's time to get an official statement from Dell even if it's just "sit tight with 14.04, it's broken but we're going to get 14.04 working fully". I don't want to upgrade to 15.04 only to find it's more work to get any patches you produce deployed.

Justin - can you explain what the resume from suspend patch is actually doing? Can we do these steps manually? Also, should we be applying this patch on Ubuntu 15.04 and Kernel 4.x?

The file should have the rar extension, so you need to install unrar to extract it.. After that you can install de deb file.

However all it does is adding the kernel parameters "pcie_aspm=force radeon.modeset=0 nouveau.modeset=0" which didn't solve the suspend problem for me.

Edit: I only have these suspend problems a couple of times since yesterday. I had it once after I tried the patch, but now it looks like it works.

My trackpad also didn't work (no cursor) the first time I booted.

I'm using kernel 3.19.0-19 right on the moment (updated yesterday from 3.19.0-18).

Justin (and Dell) - just so you know, Bios A04 does not fix the keyboard issues. I am running BIOS A04 and the keyboard still throws out quite a few duplicate chars. It seems like it needs more aggressive de-bouncing.

I must say, the suspend problem still exists. I had a couple of freezes the last 2 days.

One time the laptop froze a minute after I was working with it. Wifi wasn't working and the moment I tried to troubleshoot it, the laptop froze.
