Where is the documentation for the Haswell / Ubuntu XP3 recovery partition?
I have a Haswell/Ubuntu XPS 13, and I see that it has a recovery partition on /dev/sda2, but it's not clear how it's intended to be used. I haven't noticed an option to boot from it, and it's not clear now it might be used as a data partition, either.

I found a 'dell-recovery' package to install. It creates official recovery media. I presume this is done using the contents of /dev/sda2.

Having now re-installed with the official media, this time I did notice the prominent prompt to create recovery media as soon as you install the operating system. Had I heeded that advice, I would had the recovery media on hand when I needed it.
