XPS 9360 touchpad not detecting taps
Everyone else seems to be having the opposite problem that I am having.
My touchpad doesn't register taps, a lot. Maybe as much as ten percent. I don't seem to have the same problem in windows or I would have assumed it is a hardware issue. It doesn't seem to matter if I press a little harder for a bigger contact patch. When I do xinput list, this is what I get.
Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ DLL082A:01 06CB:76AF Touchpad id=11 [slave pointer (2)]
Thanks for your help!

Hi @briggs_1978:
the mouse technology is much newer in the 9360 than what is supported in the 16.04 ubuntu build. Moving to the newer mouse driver will alleviate some of the annoyances with the touch pad in Linux. You can upgrade the driver using this dell guide - http://www.dell.com/support/article/hk/en/hkbsd1/sln308258/precision-xps-ubuntu-general-touchpad-mouse-issue-fix?lang=en

Thanks for your help. I checked out the link and I already have libinput running. I've attached the existing device setting below. I also looked around in the libinput manpage that was linked and I didn't see anything that would resolve low sensitivity other than " Option "TabletToolPressureCurve" " but the use of the word Tablet gave me hesitation.
PS. The computer has a touchscreen, but I have it disabled in the BIOS.
Any thoughts?

Did you find a solution?
I have the exact same issue. Not in windows, not with synaptics, only with libinput.
Around 10% tap fails.
Except you and myself, I can't find anyone with this issue.
This has been going on since last august. I have asked help on countless forums. I just can't figure if there is a hardware problem or not. It's maddening.
If you have the time I'd really like to know what you did.

I wish OP would tell us if he ended up fixing his issue because I'm also having the same problem. Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS with libinput... Same thing, about 10% taps are unregistered.
Please help us!

I ended up selling that computer because the touchpad was driving me insane.
Unfortunately I just purchased an XPS 15 7590 and I'm having the exact same problem!
No problem under windows, but in Ubuntu and Fedora, it's dropping at least one out of six taps.
Has anyone discovered a fix for this? Nothing is coming up in searches, except the libinput stuff from three years ago.
