Is it possible to upgrade the video card on the current 530n shipping from Dell? (Something like a ATI Radeon 4550 or 4850.)

Provided that it has a PCIExpress slot(which is highly probable), yes it is. Dell might not give you the option, but you may purchase a video card seperatly. If(I highly doubt) it does not have PCIExpress then you will have to go with an AGP/PCI video card, which are extremely rare
