Dell Precision 5510 and Ubuntu 16.04
Hi,
I have a Dell Precision 5510 that comes with a pre-installed Windows. I just have installed the Ubuntu 16.04 (downloaded from here) and everything works very slow (the booting process - ~ 1 min; opening the apps - terminal, nautilus; etc.) compared with my old laptop (L702x).
Drivers and Downloads section offers only the Ubuntu 14.04 image to be downloaded. That means that 16.04 is not supported? Or, maybe I should start from that image and upgrade it to 16.04, once it's installed?
Here are my BIOS and OS details:
- BIOS 01.02.14
- Ubuntu 16.04
- kernel 4.7.5-040705-generic (I've tried also 4.5 and 4.6)
- NVIDIA 370.28 driver (I've tried also 361.45, 364.19, 367.44 and 370.28)
Thanks!
Mihai

dude, u downloaded SERVER IMAGE.
UBUNTU 18.04 Bionic LTS (stable)
Link with latest updates pre-installed:
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/bionic/daily-live/
U will see a folder with today's date, open it (DONT OPEN YESTERDAY"S FOLDER)
Download file : bionic-desktop-amd64.iso
These are generic ISOs released by Canonical, and works pretty well on my system.
Dell customised Ubuntu images are not listed in their servers, hence u will be unable to dwnld ( even if u had ubuntu out of the box)
I am in contact with Advanced Resolution Team & they're on it!!
For now, satisfy ur thirst with the link I gave^
