Inspiron 530 Dual Monitor Help
Just converted from a lifelong windows user and really like Ubuntu, especially being a developer.
I have the dell Inspiron 530n and also purchased an additional video card, a Radeon ATI 2400Pro PCI Express, so I can use dual monitors. When I boot up I get a screen after startup saying :
"Attention: Unsupported Video Configuration Detected" etc..
Press F1 to continue.
The machine is not recognizing the card at all. I have tried Envy, installing drivers, everything. Is this card not supported (I asked Dell sales rep and he suggested this one) or am I doing something wrong? I really need dual monitors working.
Thanks!

I have a 530 and bought a new monitor to go with it. Despite having a dedicated similar graphics card ati radeon 2400 and alledgely a dedicated driver for it on my list I still have to select generic graphics and generic monitor even though that is listed exactly as described. Seems daft really. Try that option ( log in in safe graphics mode in the boot splash screen (f12) when the pc starts up ...select safe graphics mode...try resetting your monitor and graphics to perhaps generic plug and play and see if you can adapt things from there for dual monitors...or if you can have a look here if you have not already
