NIC & USB Configuration on linux machine

hi,

   i installed redhat linux 9.0 on dell inspiron 6400, but its networkcard does not working...when i tried configuring ip address it gives an error (eth:unknown interface: no such device),  also if you can advice me how can i configure USB for my internet.
