Ubuntu 9.10, HDMI, and LinDVD

After upgrading from 9.04 to 9.10 I am no longer able to get audio via HDMI when playing a DVD with LinDVD. (It worked great in 9.04.)

Anything I play through the browser (e.g. YouTube) works fine (both audio and video over HDMI). However, when I play a DVD with LinDVD, I can only get audio through the laptop speakers-not through the HDMI port (note that the video does go via HDMI).

My system is a Dell m1530 XPS that came from Dell with 8.04 and LinDVD installed. If anyone could offer any suggestions I would appreciate it.
