XPS 15", 4K, Linux Mint and NVidia

Hi

Does anybody managed to configure nvidia properly on Linux (Mint or Ubuntu based)? I have at the moment an applet that allows me to change to nvidia, forcing a logout (not practical), based on PRIME. it is not just not practical, but it also makes the laptop fan start working.

Hints are welcome.

(as a side note, is there any .deb rep with packages from dell to ubuntu?)
