Dell Server Management Pack 5.0.1 on SCOM 2012 SP1

Hi,

Has anyone had any luck installing the Dell Server Management Pack 5.0.1 on a System Center 2012 SP1 implementation?

We have followed the installation guide to the letter, we have set custom overrides to speed up discovery time, reinstalled the management pack, with no luck.

The problem is that nothing appears in the Dell Feature Management Dashboard, therefore individual management packs (Blades, servers, etc) cannot be installed.

Anyone else experienced the problem?  Anyone have a successful implementation with 5.0.1 on SCOM 2012 SP1?

Anyone been able to install the individual management pack elements manually?

I'm chasing this up with ProSupport but thought some members out here might also have some advice.

Thanks for your help!

Cheers,
Patrick

Hi Patrick

Re: Feature Monitoring Dashboard not getting populated

Did you also check out the tips mentioned in the blog (link below)?

en.community.dell.com/.../dell-server-management-pack-suite-feature-management-dashboard-is-not-populated-with-the-available-features-or-is-empty.aspx

Also, note that in order to import the MPs using the Feature Management dashboard on SCOM 2012 SP1, you will need to install the "Update Rollup 1 for System Center 2012 Service Pack 1" from Microsoft support.microsoft.com/.../2785682 .

Which management packs are you testing out on your implementation? 5.0.1 has not been officially released for SCOM 2012 SP1 yet, so YMMV. You could try with manual imports of the MPs, the MPs are organized into folders like Server Monitoringand the Readme lists what each MP is for...Do let us know how it goes.

Hi,

The only way to get this to work was to manually import the management packs from [INSTALL DRIVE]:\Program Files\Dell Management Packs\Server Mgmt Suite\5.0.1.

These are the management packs required for server and CMC monitoring.

Server Management:

- Dell.OperationsLibrary.Server.mp

- Dell.Model.Server.mp

- Dell.View.Server.mp

- Dell.WindowsServer.Scalable.mp

- Dell.Server.OOB.mp

- Dell.WindowsServer.Detailed.mp

- Dell.WindowsServer.InformationAlertsOn.mp

- Dell.Server.OOB.DetailedMonitoringOn.mp

Chassis Management:

- Dell.Model.CMC.mp

- Dell.OperationsLibrary.CMC.mp

- Dell.View.CMC.mp

- Dell.CMC.OM12.mp

Cheers,

Patrick

i've experience exact the same Problem. SCOM 2010 SP1 with the latest Update Rollup, installed the Dell 5.0.1 MP and the Dashboard is not populated after 2 Days. in the MP Manual is written that EVERY Management Server Needs to have the Dell MP installed, and only then the Dashboard is getting populated. i have only one Management Server but serveral Gateway Servers, im not sure if the dell Management pack is needed on the Gateway Servers.

Anyway, i've installed the MP also an all Gateway Servers, and after another 2 days the Dashboard is still empty. anyone has an update on this issue? and is the Dell MP needed on the Gateway Servers?

@Andrew-N

There's a new version of the Server MP suite released. This simplifies many of the install related concerns: it needs to be installed only on one MS to get the dashboard,
