1703FP broken???

Hi all, I start up my computer and the monitor comes on fine for about a second and then goes completely black, yet the power light stays green. If I turn off then on the display again, it will come on again for about a second and then switch off (well, blackness, anyway). This happens for both the analogue and digital cables (and, of couse, I don't use them simultaneously).
I tried my friend's 1703FP with my setup and it's working fine.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for any help,

Sean

How do I do the following?

# Perform monitor reset
# Perform monitor self-test feature check to determine if the intermittent problem occurs in self-test mode

Thanks.

J I N X,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Here are some things to try and resolve the issue with the monitor.

  • Ensure monitor is in proper video mode
  • Ensure video cable connection to computer and to the flat panel is secure
  • Perform monitor reset
  • Perform monitor self-test feature check to determine if the intermittent problem occurs in self-test mode

I'm experiencing the same problem/defect with a newly arrived 1703FPt. The power LED seems to properly function; I get a quick flash of signal when booting, then drops to black.

The OSD menus don't appear. The self-test graphic doesn't appear.

Is there some magic reset hardware button combination? Can't use the factory reset command if I can't see the OSD.

Thanks

I called Dell tech support today and they don't know what the problem is. Luckily it's still under warranty so they're shipping me out a replacement on Monday!
