2007WFP, PC HDMI to VGA adapter

It’s an older monitor I know. I’m trying to get my switch working on it. I have an HDMI to VGA adapter cable. When I turn on the PC, I get a message on the 2007WFP telling me to change the PC display input to 1680x1050 60Hz. Is there anything I can do to get this working?
