3007WFP only goes up to 1280x800 with GeForce GTX645
So I got a new Dell 8700 (Costco model) with a GeForce GTX645 display card in it. I also have a Dell 3007WFP monitor. I have tried hooking up the monitor to the HDMI port of the NVIDIA card and the DVI port. The best resolution I can get it 1280x800 on the HDMI cord. When I hook up the DVI cable I can increase the resolution in the control panel, but it does not work. When the HDMI cable is hook up the resolution max out at 1280x800. I am running Windows 8 64bit. I tried to download the driver from here http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/DriverDetails?driverId=6RMJK but the install does not work on windows 8. What do I need to do to get the display to get better graphics?

drlazor,
The file library is incorrect in its "Compatibility". That driver is Windows 7 only. We do not offer any Windows 8 drivers for both the 3007WFP and the 3007WFP-HC. The only resolutions supported are 1280x800 and 2560x1600. To get the higher resolution of 2560x1600, the video card must have a DVI-D Dual Link port and you must be using a DVI-D Dual Link cable.
computer video card DVI-D DL port --> DVI D DL cable --> 3007WFP DVI-D DL port
Going from the HDMI port on the video card via some adapter to our monitor DVI-D port will only get the lower resolution.

Hi Dell-Chris,
Is the higher resolution possible if using a notebook via HDMI or a port replicator via HDMI or Display Port? The graphics card on the notebook supports a resolution higher than 2560x1600.
What about something like the UltraAV® DisplayPort to DVI-D Dual-Link Adapter (http://www.accellcables.com/B087B-002B.html)?
Thanks Dell-Chris

Bec Dell,
We do not know. We have never tested those options on the older 3007WFP/3007WFP-HC monitors.

Hi Dell-Chris,
Thanks for your help.
Why does the monitor only support 2500 when going from DVI on the graphics card to DVI on the monitor, but only 1200 when going from HDMI or Display Port on the notebook to DVI on the monitor? Is this a monitor limitation?
Thanks,
Bec

The notebook HDMI and DP are only sending a single link signal. The monitor only has two modes:
Dual Link 2560x1600
Single Link 1280x800
