AW3418DW, flickering at 115Hz and 120Hz, #1

Jump to solution

Hiya,

I received my monitor about 3 weeks ago. It worked flawlessly for about 2 weeks without a problem. But in the last few days the screen flickers very slowly at 115Hz and 120Hz. It works at 110Hz and lower. I have performed a factory reset and tried updating the firmware on my Nvidia GeForce 1080 Ti but nothing works.

Any ideas or should I request a RMA?

Jonathan.

Just a quick update to say all fixed now with new replacement. Fingers crossed it doesn’t reappear.

Just waiting to hear back to arrange returning the faulty unit.

Thanks for for your help.

This should be your physical setup =
Nvidia GeForce GTX video card DP out port --> AW3418DW DP to DP cable --> AW3418DW DP in port

Install the latest Nvidia WHQL driver. Enable G-Sync =
* Uninstall GeForce Experience
* Restart the PC when done
* Download/Save the latest Nvidia WHQL driver to your Windows Desktop
* Right click the file and select "Run as administrator"
* Click OK
* Click Agree and Continue
* Click Custom (Advanced)
* Click Next
* Check the following =
Graphics Driver
3D Vision Controller Driver
3D Vision Driver
HD Audio Driver
PhysX System Software
Perform a clean installation
* Click Next
* When done, click Restart Now

Enable G-Sync in the Nvidia Control Panel
* Right click on the Windows desktop and select "NVIDIA Control Panel" or launch the "NVIDIA Control Panel" application from your Start menu
* Open Display
* Click Setup G-Sync
* Check Enable G-Sync
* Insert the dot to, "Enable G-Sync for windowed and full screen mode"
* Click Apply
* Under 3D Settings, click Manage 3D Settings
* Highlight Monitor Technology
* Choose G-SYNC
* Click Apply
* Close the the Nvidia Control Panel

* Press the AW3418DW Menu Key
* Check Overclock On
* Go to Others
* Display Info should shows "Mode: G-SYNC"

3440x1440 60Hz
3440x1440 85Hz

* From whom was this purchased?
* What is the 20 digit S/N?
* Post some videos showing us all of the Hz, both working and flickering
* Test all of the 1080 DP out ports

Built on April 30, 2018. Is there another PC with Nvidia video card to test on?

On that PC, is it flickering on the Windows desktop? Or just in certain games? If only in games and not the Windows desktop, which specific games?

No I don’t have another PC or graphics card unfortunately.

No it flickers on the desktop and games.

Read this. If the replacement does not have the issue, return the original to Dell. If the replacement has the SAME issue, the fault was NOT with the original AW3418DW. Return the replacement to Dell. Look to the PC as the culprit.
