Best Cable to Connect Monitor/Computer

I recently bought a Dell Computer with a 1GB nVidia GeForce GT220 video card along with a ST2410 24" Monitor.  The only cable that came with them was VGA to VGA, which seems kind of a lowest common denominator.  What sort of connector cable do I need to make the most of my system.

From looking at the computer, it has three ports - VGA, DVI & DisplayPort.  The Monitor has VGA, DVI-D, & HDMI.  I am thinking DisplayPort cable with adaptor to HDMI,  but wanted to get some feedback.  I thought to try to tech support chat, but got a message that my support has expired (strange - I should have it for 2 years).

Anyway, opinions and advice appreciated.

If I were in your shoes I would try a DVI-DVI cable first, to avoid using adapters. On the other hand, you can get several cables of different types from Monoprice.com and try each, all for less than you'd pay for a single cable elsewhere.

Thank you. I was leaning to DVI-DVI, so I will probably go with that.
