I recommend using it as follows:
    - native resolution
    - display mode: desktop (default)
    - brightness to taste but not much lower than the default of 50
    - color settings: pc mode (default)
    - color settings: custom color (not default) all channels at 100 (default)

This will provide a nearly exact sRGB display: gamma 2.2, 6500K white point, full sRGB gamut

Well I found my 2007WFP overly bright; my brightness is on 0, but it was still too bright so I used graphics settings to adjust even lower. I have not mucked around with my color settings though.

Windows is now good brightness but games now very dark (and the ATI drivers once again just stuff up and don't apply "3D Color settings" where I turned up the brightness), so I just put the monitor into the old Gaming mode (fast paced game so banding not a problem for me) which puts the brightness and stuff up - much faster than adjusting the brightness on the monitor again.
