Can I use an LCD monitor with integrated video ?

I have a Dimension 4700 (May 2005) with integrated video.

I would like to use a 22" or 23" flat screen monitor.   Would that require additional equipment - video card ? special port ?

Your integrated video has analog (VGA) output.  Just make sure the LCD screen you buy has an analog VGA input connector.  You might want to get one that has both analog and digital (DVI) inputs so that if you get a new computer or put a new video card in your computer you can go digital.

One problem you need to consider: LCD monitors have a "native" resolution that should be set in order for the monitor to look its best.  Check your integrated video display properties to see what resolutions it will support.  If it's limited, you'll have many more options by adding a video card.  Your system has a PCIe (express) card slot for video.
