Dell U3011 Powered USB 1.5A is only 0.5A!

Hi,

According to the specifications, the bottom side USB socket should be charging at 1.5A. Unfortunately it's onyl charging at 500mA top.

Any idea what could be wrong?

Thanks.

I'm not sure if I know what you mean by "both bottom USB ports", but I tested all of them 4 USB ports, they all are less than 500mA including the one that suppose to support 1.5A charging.

I work for Dell in Austin, Texas. I think there was some confusion on my part. That descriptor in the edoc that you provided is for the SIDE panel USB ports only, not the bottom view USB ports. So the #3 side USB port should support 1.5 A charging. Can you tell us what devices your trying to charge on the SIDE panel #3 USB port?

I'm trying to charge an iPhone 4/4S, iPad 2/3. iPhone "can take" as much as 1A max. and iPad 2.1A, but iPad can be and is being charged with just 1.5A. Diagnostics on my iPhone and iPad are telling me that all 4 USB ports are only 0.5A (500mA) which is a maximum amperage for a standard USB port. This particular one should be 1.5A, but it isn't.

The U3011 USB side port #3 supports 1.5A charging only when the device connected to it is BC1.1 compliant. Non-BC1.1 devices (apple) will only charge at 0.5A.
