How to connect two Dell U2713HM

Hi,

I have a question regarding the Dell U2713HM. I want to use two of them but how do i connect both of them (maximum resolution). I can connect one via Display Port. Then the second one.., this a piece of the specs of my motherboard:

Integrated Graphics Processor

Multi-VGA output support : HDMI/DVI-D/RGB/DisplayPort 1.2 ports *1
- Supports HDMI with max. resolution 4096 x 2160 @ 24 Hz / 2560 x 1600 @ 60 Hz
- Supports DVI-D with max. resolution 1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz
- Supports RGB with max. resolution 1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz
- Supports DisplayPort with max. resolution 4096 x 2160 @ 24 Hz / 3840 x 2160 @ 60 Hz
Maximum shared memory of 1024 MB

Supports up to 3 displays simultaneously

Can i connect the second Dell via HDMI?

Hi MvL72,

Yes this monitor will support the resolution 2560x1440 with HDMI cable. But make sure the new computer that you purchase supports the latest HDMI version that is 1.4 or 1.4a and not 1.3 , as HDMI 1.3 version on this monitor supports upto a maximum resolution of 1920x1080. HDMI 1.4 can accommodate future 3840x2160 and 4096x2160 high definition pixel resolutions.

The Mac Mini which you possess as of now only supports upto a maximum resolution of 1080p which you have mentioned above. Below is a screenshot of the Mac Mini's support page for your convenience

Hope this helps.

Hi MvL72,

Yes ofcourse, you can connect the second Dell monitor to the computer via the HDMI port. Below is a screenshot of the ports from its manual and you can refer to it and see all the ports that it supports. Look at port number 6, it says HDMI, so you can definitely plug a HDMI cable to it.

For more information please refer to the Owner's Manual of this particular manual by clicking below : (Note: To view the manual you should have Adobe Reader installed on the computer since its a .pdf file format)

Hope this helps.

Okay are your sure this is over HDMI. I have now connected a Mac Mini via HDMI to the U2713HM but max is 1080P. Maybe this is a limitation of the Mac Mini. Now i want to sell this Mini and buy a PC with the motherboard and specs i posted in the first post. They talking about:

- Supports HDMI with max. resolution 4096 x 2160 @ 24 Hz / 2560 x 1600 @ 60 Hz

[/quote}

not sure if the Dell U2713HM can do this over HDMI.

Hi MvL72,

Yes ofcourse, you can use this monitor with the above mentioned resolution i.e., 2560x1440 along with the HDMI cable. It is mentioned in the manual as well. Below is a screenshot of the same.

Okay, thank you very much for your time and detailed explanation. Much much appreciated!

The motherboard has HDMI 1.4a. Then I'll buy a second U2713HM. :)
